I am so grateful – Fiona’s story

Last year, my teenage son and I had to flee from domestic violence. We were placed in a refuge where we experienced a lot of trauma. Eventually I found a tiny cabin I could afford due to the COVID welfare supplement. Once that ended, my son and I struggled terribly to put food on the table.

The Family Wellbeing Services worker understood my situation and did everything they could to support us. The workers have all gone above and beyond to make sure we had food on the table, had my son's first term school fees and uniform paid for, and assisted in finding a place to live. They even attended an appointment with me as I suffer from PTSD and anxiety.

I am so grateful to have met the team and had their constant reassurance that everything was going to be okay. I have never once felt unwelcome or unsupported. They are a very compassionate team. I would most certainly refer this service to others.
